Schwartzy

FOR ADOPTION: SCHWARTZY is a 7 month old female large breed mix that is looking for family to pour her love into. Schwartzy is currently 55lbs and should mature close to 70lbs. She is a soft, gentle dog that just wants everyone to love her. Schwartzy spent her puppyhood growing up in a rural area, she wasn’t treated badly in anyway but has not had the same life experiences as most other puppies. Schwartzy has recently learned to come inside (and loves to be comfy, warm and fed), she’s figured out how to sit, wait, and walk on leash, and she’s quickly realizing that car rides mean fun adventures. She may be a little behind other dogs her age on environmental socialization but she’s leaps and bounds ahead in socialization with other animals. Growing up Schwartzy was free to wander and meet all sorts of critters. As a result she is phenomenal with other dogs. She’s not met one she doesn’t like and she knows how to introduce herself politely and adjust her play style to match those she’s interacting with. Schwartzy has shown zero desire to chase or bother the cats at the shelter, she’s happy to quietly observe them. We’ve not had the ability to test her around livestock such as chickens, sheep and cattle but we suspect she will be equally respectful and observant with them. Schwartzy has been very gentle with the children she’s met so far at the shelter and would very happily be a family pet with equally gentle children. Despite being allowed wander as a pup Schwartzy is quite connected to the people around her and we do not think she would revert to wandering unless she was left unattended for long periods of time without a secure fence. She’s clean indoors and happy in a kennel while we are away from the shelter. Schwartzy is a medium energy level dog. She will happily accompany her family on long walks, hikes, and other outdoor adventures but she’s not the type to need strenuous exercise on a regular basis.
