Volunteer

Come join us in the world of animal rescue and we will show you one of the most satisfying ways to help both animals and people. We are looking for volunteers from all walks of life to help us with the many little tasks that it takes to run a successful rescue society.

We need volunteers to help with the following:

Shelter Shifts
We are always looking for people to help out doing shifts at the shelter.  This is hard work, but very rewarding as you are helping the animals directly - including feeding, cleaning, scooping poop, cleaning litter boxes. and walking dogs.  If you are committed to helping animals, please contact us at info@nwas.ca.  Training is required to become a shelter volunteer.

Fostering
Fostering a cat or a dog can be a challenging and rewarding activity all at the same time.
If you're an animal lover and enjoy the challenge of getting to know new animals and new breeds, you will definitely enjoy the fostering experience. Please visit the Foster page for more information.

Public Education
If you enjoy public speaking and are passionate about animal care issues, this is your opportunity to promote awareness on animal care and other animal related topics through our newsletter or representing the NWAS at local community events and school visits.

Fundraising
Helping with Fund Raising and Special Events (Garage Sales, Craft Fairs, Bake Sales)
Making craft items for sale, selling tickets, handling cash etc.

Miscellaneous
We need people who can help with local transportation of animals (to the vet and airport).
We are looking for advice and help in the areas of construction and design.
Please e-mail us for details.
