Zoey

FOR ADOPTION: ZOEY is a super sweet female purebred Labrador Retriever that will turn 5 years old in April. Zoey comes to us with an incredibly sad story. She was deeply loved by her previous owner but unfortunately his health deteriorated and it was unnoticed for quite some time. By the time a wellness check was called in it was obvious that the gentleman was in a dire situation and the dogs had obviously not been fed or let outside in at least three weeks. We know that Zoey’s previous owner would be devastated if he was able to comprehend the condition his beloved pooch was in. We had to do a very slow refeeding program so as not to shock Zoey’s system and she is still in the process of slowly coming back from starvation. We’ve received word that Zoey’s previous owner will never be able to care for her again and we are looking to help her find a new loving home. At a healthy weight Zoey will be approximately 70lbs. Currently Zoey needs it be fairly low key with leisurely walks and lots of cuddle time to conserve her calories, once’s she’s back at a healthy weight she is going to be a very fun hiking, skiing, or biking partner. Zoey is incredibly well mannered. She knows basic obedience, is very clean indoors, she is kennel trained and seems eager to go for car rides. Zoey is good with other dogs and completely ignores cats but she could also be very happy as an only pet. Zoey could easily live with or without children. What Zoey wants most in this world is someone to spend all of her time with. If she was able to go to work with her people she promises she would be good and quite the whole time she is there. Even better would be someone who is retired or works from home so she can be an integral part of their routine. Zoey does have some separation anxiety, likely due to her recent ordeal. She is totally fine and happy while she is crated indoors but she cannot be left outside alone or she will repeatedly jump in place until she is let back inside. As far as faults go, Zoey’s is easily Managed, she just needs to be accompanied outside for her bathroom breaks. Zoey is slightly timid at first meeting with new people but all it takes is a treat to win her affections and once you have that she is incredibly loyal and a fantastic cuddler .Zoey is spayed, vaccinated and up to date on parasite control .. if you’ve been looking for a devoted new friend apply today at www.NWAS.ca for a chance to meet ZOEY
