Tank

FOR ADOPTION: TANK is an adorable 3 year old , 70lb, bully mix that is looking for a family that will treasure him like he deserves. Tank has lived a tremulous life surrounded by addiction and was often left to his own devices. Despite his past, Tank is the sweetest boy that could spend an entire day cuddling on the couch soaking up all the love he has missed out on so far. Tank has been hit by cars twice in his short life, he got off fairly easy the first time but the second car encounter left him with two breaks in his left rear leg. The injuries could have been a blessing in disguise, his previous family was facing having to euthanize Tank due to cost but the vet clinic and one of our amazing volunteers stepped in and contacted us. How can you resist those soulful eyes? We took on Tank and his soon to be thousands of dollars in vet bills and vowed to find him a life full of love once he was healed. Tank had months of being casted so the bottom portion of his leg could heal before having the shattered head of his femur surgically removed. Tank is now in the recovery phase after his last surgery, all he needs is dedicated rehab which consists of going for controlled leashed walks daily and building up muscles by walking stairs. Tank will never be a high energy adventure buddy but if you’re looking for a companion for leisurely walks and gentle hikes he could be your guy! Mental stimulation will be the key to tiring Tank and keeping him happy. This guy has incredible food drive and he loves to build connections with people through training. Tank has been excellent with the other dogs we’ve introduced him to so far which include dogs of both genders from seniors down to a playful puppy. His veterinarian has said he can start gently playing with other dogs but they will need to be respectful dogs that will willingly back off when Tank’s leg gets tired. We were told that Tank will chase cats when they run but that he has never hurt one (and he lived with many previously), our own testing has shown that he’s not overly interested in cats. We would like to pair him with a dog savvy, confident cat if he is to live with a cat. Tank is a total love bug that is great with people but he does have a big bark when meeting new folks through a fence. Tank’s bark comes from barrier frustration and not being able to rush up and say hello. He is very good at meeting people while on leash. Tank’s big bark may be a deterrent for people wanting to sneak into your home or yard but if the intruders come armed with good treats he will show them the way to the couch for some snuggles. Tank has spent the majority of his life so far around adults, he is open to the idea of living with older kids but he does not know what to make of younger children when they are running and screaming while playing. Tank cannot decide if these loud, playing kids are in danger or injured or what is going on. For his stress levels he would like to be in a home where he does not need to be around that level of energy. We are looking for a home with a well fenced yard for Tank or one where he will never be outside unattended. Tank’s is used to free ranging and his desire to chase vehicles as entertainment is still there despite his track record with them
Being quite poor. Tank is neutered, vaccinated and up to date on parasite control. If you’ve been looking for a big love bug apply today for a chance to meet TANK
