Iggy Azalea
FOR ADOPTION: IGGY AZALEA is an absolutely stunning, one-year-old female mixed breed who weighs in at just under 50 lbs. Iggy is a fun, active dog who bonds deeply with her humans. She is the perfect size for an adventure buddy—robust yet easily portable. She will happily keep up on any outdoor activity you have in mind but is just as content to spend the day cuddling on the couch.
Iggy came to us with a litter of five pups and was able to spend time in a loving foster home before moving to the shelter to find her forever family. While in foster care, Iggy shared her home with friendly dogs, confident cats, and outdoor horses and goats, doing excellently with all of them. She is a playful young dog and loves having another canine around to romp and wrestle with. With the other animals, she was highly respectful of their space; the foster cats tried pretty hard to get her to play, and by the end of her stay, she was starting to engage playfully with them too!
Iggy arrived in NWAS care quite undersocialized. She had been living as a community dog and had very limited life experience. Since arriving, Iggy has learned that she absolutely loves toys, is becoming more comfortable in the vehicle with each trip (though she still requires a lift to get in), and is starting to confidently explore the hustle and bustle of popular trails around town.
Iggy does experience some confinement and separation anxiety. She can become destructive if left entirely alone in a room and can get nervous in a kennel. However, the more time she has to settle into a space, the less these anxieties affect her. In fact, she is so used to the routine at the shelter now that she happily heads into her kennel and does not make a fuss or a mess between shifts.
We know she will need time to adjust to new people and a new environment, so she will require a family prepared to give her patience, grace, and time to settle in. She would be thrilled to find a family that can take her to work or has a hybrid schedule to lessen her alone time.
Iggy has excellent manners on a leash and a strong desire to be close to her people. Once she is bonded to her new family, she will be a fantastic candidate for off-leash adventures.
Iggy is spayed, vaccinated, and up to date on parasite control. If you've been looking for a devoted new adventure buddy, apply today for a chance to meet IGGY AZALEA!
