Cinnamon

FOR ADOPTION: CINNAMON
Cinnamon is an incredibly sweet, one-year-old female Lab mix. This adorable girl comes in a perfectly petite package; she is built like a Labrador but weighs only 40 lbs.
Cinnamon came to us from a reserve where she lived as a community dog. She arrived fearful and undersocialized and has been working hard to learn what life as a loved pet is all about. Since her arrival, she has gained an incredible amount of self-confidence and trust. With those she knows best, you would never know she was once a frightened little lady.
Personality & Training
Cinnamon is still a little shy around new people but warms up quickly for good treats. Once she knows you, she is friendly, affectionate, and playful. She loves face rubs and cuddles, frequently gets the "zoomies," and is an eager adventure buddy.
She has been accompanying several of our volunteers on walks and hikes on local trails and is doing fabulously. She loves sniffing new scents and seeing new places, looking to her companions for reassurance when encountering new things, such as passing bikers. She is also quickly learning that car rides mean fun times; she rides quietly in the vehicle and allows herself to be lifted in.
Social Life
Dogs: Cinnamon has been fabulous with other dogs. She is a friendly and respectful companion who likes to take time to get to know her canine buddies before "activating" play mode. Once comfortable, she loves to play chase and share toys.
Cats: She has had limited exposure to cats but has been respectful, if not a little timid, in all her interactions.
Children: She has been excellent with the older children she has met at the shelter. However, we believe she could be overwhelmed by small children who do not yet understand how to respect her space and cues. For this reason, we are looking for a family with children aged 10+.
Home Life & Quirks
Cinnamon has been clean in her kennel and is mostly non-destructive. She does have some minor separation anxiety and will bark when confined away from her people; she is also clever enough to open some gates and doors to try and get to you. This behavior has decreased dramatically as she has settled in at the shelter, but we suspect she will go through an adjustment phase in a new home.
Note: One strange quirk we have found is that Cinnamon is incredibly wary of women with medium-to-long gray hair. While she eventually warms up, she is never quite as comfortable as she is with others. Therefore, we would like to find her a home where her primary caregiver does not have this hair type.
Health & Activity
Cinnamon has a solid medium energy level. She loves walks and hikes and would likely enjoy trotting beside a bike once she is further desensitized to them. She would also make a fabulous camping or fishing companion.
