Sister Mary

FOR ADOPTION: Sister Mary is an approximately 11-month-old female looking for a loving first and forever home.
​This sweet girl was born to a feral mother near the Anglican Church in Smithers. Luckily, as older kittens, Mary and her sisters started frequenting the backyard of a caring family. They set to work earning the sisters' trust through food and eventually got two of the cats to the point where they could be held and cuddled. At that stage, we had space and were able to take the two friendly sisters into our care.
​Mary spent time in a foster home before moving to the shelter once it became clear she was not pregnant. While initially fearful in the shelter environment, she quickly warmed up and returned to her usual self.
​Mary loves to be petted and will allow herself to be held, even if it isn’t her favorite activity. She has been a friendly, affectionate girl with all of our volunteers and staff, including men, women, and children aged 9 and up. We feel Mary could fit into most family dynamics, provided her adopters don't expect her to be a lap cat 24/7.
​Mary is not comfortable with dogs and becomes reactive if they enter her space, so she requires a dog-free home. However, she is excellent with other cats—friendly, respectful, and slightly on the submissive side, preferring quiet interactions over rowdy play.
​Mary is currently looking for an indoor-only home, though she could transition to indoor/outdoor life after many months of settling in. A home with a secure catio would be a fantastic option as well.
