Duke

Duke is the most delightfully goofy, tail-wagging, adorable 2-year-old male Pitbull/Lab mix you will ever meet!
Duke came into our care after a rough start involving accidental drug ingestion, leading his previous owners to surrender him to a vet clinic. Thankfully, this resilient boy pulled through his overdose and made a full recovery! We ran comprehensive bloodwork to ensure his organ function was completely unaffected by his medical emergency, and we can safely say Duke is 100% healthy, thriving, and ready for his happily ever after.
Weighing in at 53 lbs of solid muscle, Duke is pure joy wrapped in energy! He is SO excited about every single moment of every single day. He’s looking for an active, adventure-loving family to show him the world and help put his exuberant zest for life to good use. Multi-day mountain hikes? Count Duke in! Mountain biking? Sounds thrilling! Downhill skiing? He might need a jacket, but he’ll be cruising right alongside you!
The only thing Duke craves more than adventure is LOVE. This guy is all about physical connection and snuggle time—he wants to truly feel connected to his people. While his devotion is absolutely adorable, it can get a bit overwhelming! Duke will thrive with a confident owner who sets and enforces clear boundaries to help him be his best self.
Duke loves other dogs just as much as he loves people—and he comes on just as strong! He’s searching for playmates who love to romp, chase, and don't mind him sticking his tongue as far down their ear canal as humanly possible. It will take a friendly, tolerant dog to handle his style, but Duke will love his canine buddy with all his heart.
Duke is also very enthusiastic about small animals like cats. Unfortunately, his high energy makes cats want to run, which makes Duke want to chase them down to explain that he just wants to be best friends forever! While he means no harm, Duke’s intense approach means a cat-free home is best.
In his kennel, Duke is clean, respectful, and non-destructive. He tries really hard not to surgically extract the squeaker from his toys (though accidents still happen on occasion!). He is comfortable in his crate, which makes it easy to manage him while he learns your house rules. Eventually, with time and training, he’ll be a great candidate for free roam in the house.
Duke also adores car rides and travels like a pro—though he genuinely believes driving looks fun! For safety’s sake, he should be restrained away from the driver’s seat so he doesn't try to take the wheel.
Duke is neutered, vaccinated, and up to date on parasite prevention.
