Clay

FOR ADOPTION: Meet Clay! []
Clay is a handsome 11-month-old male looking for a patient forever family. This sweet boy was born to a feral mother but has been working hard at becoming a housecat ever since!
 [✨] Personality and Comfort Level
Because he was born in captivity, Clay has been handled daily since he was just a kitten. He absolutely loves being petted all over and is incredibly enthusiastic about showing affection!
Handling: While he is still a bit uncomfortable being picked up, he tolerates it for short periods. He simply prefers to be petted with all four paws firmly on the ground.
Playtime: Clay is super fun and playful! He truly enjoys his toys and can get quite rowdy when the mood strikes.
 [] Home Environment and Adjustment
Clay is still learning about the indoor world and will need time to adjust to life in a home. He was raised in a large, sturdy outdoor enclosure before moving into our shelter.
[] Progress Report: He has done an amazing job exploring his space at the shelter, getting used to daily things like brooms, clanging dishes, and the hum of the air conditioner. A full home environment will bring new sights and sounds, but Clay is a brave boy who adapts beautifully when given a little patience.
 [] Dog and Cat Compatibility
Cats: Clay is great with other playful cats! He prefers simultaneously playing with toys rather than rough wrestling. We are continuing to introduce him to calmer cats, and we expect he will be quite submissive as he adjusts.
Dogs: He has had limited but very positive experiences with dogs and could successfully live with a very calm, gentle canine companion.
 [] Kids and Lifestyle
Clay is easily overwhelmed by loud, rowdy behavior, but he is gentle and friendly with children when they are calm. He would do best in:
A home with an infant he can grow up alongside.
A home with calm, older children.
A child-free environment.
[] Note on the Outdoors: Clay has never experienced roaming outdoors. He is looking for an indoor-only home or a family with a secure catio he can eventually enjoy.
 [] Health and Next Steps
Clay is neutered, fully vaccinated, and up-to-date on parasite control.
